Sharon Carey, SIDC, CCE, is the founder of Sharon Carey Home and The Color Club, where color confidence begins. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sharon helps business professionals, workplace leaders, and homeowners understand how color psychology and neuroaesthetics directly impact focus, well-being, communication, and performance. Her work bridges design and human behavior, showing that color is not just decorative—it’s strategic, emotional, and deeply influential in how people think, feel, and connect.

With more than 14 years of experience, Sharon brings a rich, hands-on background shaped by fashion design, furniture refinishing, and a lifelong immersion in interior decorating—skills first taught to her by her mother. She specializes in transforming builder-basic and high-pressure environments into intentional spaces that support clarity, productivity, and emotional ease. Her work spans residential interiors, particularly within the 55+ community, as well as corporate and professional settings where burnout, disengagement, and communication breakdowns are common challenges.

Through workshops, corporate programs, and signature experiences like The Color Club, Vino & Vision Boards, and creative team reset sessions, Sharon teaches individuals and organizations how to use color, drawing, and visual thinking to decompress, communicate more effectively, and plan with intention. Known for her warm, practical approach, she believes in investing in people, leading with empathy, and creating high-impact change without adding complexity. When she’s not teaching or designing, Sharon can be found in her workshop with power tools, volunteering through her ministry, or enjoying life in Raleigh with her family—and her two beloved grandcats, Christopher Crash and Webberman Jensen.

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to remember that I’m better than I think I am. This perspective has helped me approach opportunities with greater confidence, trust my abilities, and push beyond self-doubt.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering the industry to truly know their craft and speak with confidence. Surround yourself with positive people who challenge you and are more knowledgeable than you, and be intentional about learning from them—growth happens fastest when you stay curious and open to mentorship.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field right now is educating others on the impact of thoughtful design. A well-designed space does more than improve aesthetics—it influences how people feel, interact, and experience a space the moment they walk into it.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, authenticity, and my faith. These principles guide my decisions, shape how I engage with others, and ensure I approach everything I do with purpose and honesty.
