About Sharon
Sharon Macwan brings more than a decade of experience in healthcare data analysis and research. She has spent nearly four years in her current position at the Arizona Veterans Research and Education Foundation (AVREF), a VA-affiliated nonprofit organization, where she leads data projects, guides team members, and collaborates with doctors and consultants on epidemiological studies. Her work includes pioneering the use of target trial emulation methods, resulting in a research paper accepted for publication in the Diabetes Care journal and a presentation at the American Diabetes Association conference in New Orleans. Macwan holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from India and a master's degree in business analytics or data analytics, which she completed with a 4.0 GPA. She also earned a Python certification to stay current with technology. Earlier in her career, she worked at eClinicalWorks on EMR software and telehealth initiatives and began as a front-end developer before shifting focus to data. She is a member of the American Diabetes Association and the Sigma Beta Delta Association.
