About Sharon
Sharon Mofield Boswell has spent 20 years in public education, currently serving with Fayette County Public Schools in Lexington, Kentucky. In her role, she manages professional learning for school staff focused on family and community engagement strategies to support student success, oversees family learning programs in partnership with the National Center for Families Learning, and leads community engagement initiatives such as back-to-school rallies and school supply drives. She holds a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from the University of Kentucky, completed in 2019, a master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands in 2022, and is pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands, with an expected completion in May 2027. Boswell is actively involved in several professional organizations, including serving on the executive board of the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education, and memberships in the Kentucky School PR Association, National School PR Association, Kappa Delta Pi, United Way Women United, and the YMCA Black Achievers Board. She attributes her success to her supportive family and the emphasis placed on education during her childhood, and she values prioritizing families as partners in education both professionally and personally.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my supportive family and an emphasis in my childhood on education being the pathway to a better life.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be a lifelong learner. School is never out for the pro.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be a lifelong learner. Be comfortable in all spaces that you enter. Be a contributor to the collective work. And don't back down.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges post-COVID are the long haul of recovery for our families in our education system, the current political climate, inflation and increasing costs, and many families in crisis or on the bubble of crisis trying to make everything happen for their kids.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family over everything. Prioritizing families as partners in education. My family at home, my personal family is everything.
