About Sharonda

I am currently an assistant principal for 7th grade and exceptional student education at Creekside Middle School in Port Orange, Florida. This is my 18th year in education, and I started my career as a teacher at Pine Ridge High School. Throughout my career, I've mostly worked in the field of exceptional student education, working everywhere from being a separate class modified teacher to a support facilitator at the middle and high school level. I've also worked as a consultation teacher and an on-the-job training teacher for high school. I taught 7th grade Language Arts as a core teacher as well. After finishing teaching in the classroom, I took a district position as a program specialist, which is really like an exceptional student education teacher on assignment, where I service a total of 8 different schools throughout Volusia County School District. Beyond my school district work, I'm also a consultant for the University of Central Florida on Project Central 2.0 and Project Speech, keeping my foot in the higher education realm. I was a project coordinator for a former grant that helped provide scholarships to students in the field of education at Bethune-Cookman University, and I was also an adjunct professor there and at Daytona State College. My current position is a 12-month position, and I balance my work with opportunities to travel, both personally and for work-related purposes.
