Her Story

About Sharrie

I have more than 39 years of experience in the Accounting/Administration field. I’m someone who leads with heart, believes in the power of people, and shows up every day committed to making a meaningful impact.

I value authenticity, connection, and purpose. I believe that the strongest organizations are built on trust, shared values, and a genuine sense of belonging. That belief shapes how I lead, how I collaborate, and how I support those around me.

I’m passionate about creating environments where people feel seen, heard, and empowered to do their best work. Whether it’s through building culture, supporting teams, or driving initiatives forward, I focus on bringing energy, empathy, and intention into everything I do.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all leadership. I believe in meeting people where they are, understanding what drives them, and helping them grow in ways that matter to them. I want them to be better than they were yesterday.

At the end of the day, I’m here to make a difference—through people, through purpose, and through the impact we create together.

Ten minutes with Sharrie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of honesty, integrity, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to people.

I’ve always believed that how you show up matters—doing the work, staying true to your values, and treating people with respect. Over time, those small, consistent actions build trust, strong relationships, and real opportunities.

I also don’t pretend to have all the answers. I’ve learned to listen, stay open, and grow through every experience. That willingness to learn, and to lead with both heart and accountability has been a driving force behind where I am today.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received came from my father. As a young adult getting into work and growing up, my father always had a front row seat and was very transparent with me. He always told me, never be afraid to show who you are. The bumps and bruises you're going to get along the way are just going to show you where you've been and help you see how hard you have worked to get where you are.

Always remember to be kind, be brave, and be authentic. Nobody is going to give you anything in this world, if you want it, you have to work for it. That's strong words, when you're a woman in a man's world. He was a girl dad extraordinaire - he raised three daughters on his own.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Relationships are everything

Skills get you in the door, but relationships move your career forward. How you treat people—peers, admins, leaders, clients—sticks longer than any single achievement.

Don’t wait to be chosen

Speak up. Share ideas. Take initiative. Careers accelerate when you stop waiting for permission. Nobody owes you anything, it’s up to you to make it happen.

Learn how to communicate well

Clear, honest, thoughtful communication will set you apart in any field—more than most technical skills. Communication is key.

Stay aligned with your values

You can be successful and still feel unfulfilled if you’re out of alignment with what actually matters to you. Be bold, be honest and march to the beat of your own drum. Authenticity matters.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The engineering consulting field is actually in a pretty interesting and challenging moment right now. There is strong demand in areas like infrastructure, energy, and data centers, but alot of pressure underneath that growth, just to name a few.

With workforce shifts, rising costs, economic uncertainty and the rapid adoption of AI, engineering consulting firms are being pushed to deliver more value with less, which strains teams and processes.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my work and my life are faith, honesty, authenticity, connection, and integrity.

I believe in showing up as my true self, building meaningful relationships, and doing the right thing, even when it’s not the easiest path. I value empathy and strive to understand people, not just lead or work alongside them. It is more about rolling up my sleeves and getting down in the “mud” alongside them.

I’m also deeply driven by growth and purpose. I want to continuously evolve, while helping create environments where others feel supported, valued, and empowered to do the same.

At the end of the day, my values aren’t just things I believe, they’re how I try to show up, every single day. It is my legacy
