Her Story

About Sharron

I've been an educator for about 15 years, and I currently started writing and speaking in late 2023. I left the law office where I worked as a paralegal because we were getting more and more juvenile cases, and the Lord kind of placed it on my heart that maybe I can catch them before they get to the judicial system, so I began teaching middle school in the private sector. Throughout those years, I experienced a number of situations where children had been bullied, and I didn't think the situations were handled the best, so I wanted to create tools for children and parents to be able to help kind of close that gap and how to handle a bullying situation. My campaign has really been anti-bullying and empowering those that may experience those situations because I had a personal incident of my own. I'm a one-man operation right now, so I call for the bookings, I go out and I engage with clients, I meet with community, and I'm pretty much hands-on with everything every day. My schedule fluctuates each week - I may have a sit-and-read session at summer camps, or I may be asked to speak at the library. Everything that I do, I do for my family, and they're the biggest inspiration that inspires me to always want to create and do great.

Ten minutes with Sharron

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my life and my children - everything that I do, I do for my family. They're the biggest inspiration, and they inspire me to always want to create and do great. Above all, I believe that with God first, everything else will come through. I want to strive to be a person that can create and touch lives.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is to never give up on myself, to continue to believe in myself, and don't let what others think deter me. I've had several mentors throughout my career - two of my godparents, one who is a business owner and another who is an attorney, and they always try to make sure that I have a solid footing on whatever I'm doing.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering this field to push forward and persevere, no matter what it looks like. Just continue to stay true to what you believe. For instance, if you're a creator, create. If you write music, write music. Don't give up on your passions, don't give up on your dreams, don't give up on your purpose, because it'll be worth it in the end.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now is getting people to support positive things, because everyone isn't always supportive. My biggest challenge is to get more people to speak out against bullying, to speak out more about us holding ourselves together as a community and being great together. I believe that we are stronger and better together, and I wish we had more of that.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are loyalty, commitment, and truth. I hold true to who I am and being confident in what I create. These are values that I hope to embody in everything I do.
