Shateka Husser
As a combat veteran, award-winning retirement consultant, international best-selling author, and visionary entrepreneur, Shateka embodies the essence of leadership, innovation, and economic empowerment. Her journey from serving as an Army Officer managing multi-billion-dollar logistics operations to founding a thriving financial services firm demonstrates unparalleled resilience and a commitment to uplifting Black communities through wealth-building and financial independence.
In terms of Leadership & Professional Excellence, Shateka has excelled in high-stakes environments, earning the Meritorious Service Medal during her military service and transitioning to corporate leadership with over 20 years in logistics and retail. She founded Shateka Husser Financial Solutions (SHFS), a firm that specializes in retirement planning, annuities, life insurance, and tax-free income strategies, serving clients in 22 states with team members across all 50. As a Certified Professional Coach and Life/Health Insurance professional, she has helped countless career professionals, business owners, and military personnel structure "never-ending tax-free passive income accounts," enabling them to "Retire Before You Expire" – a mantra she coined to inspire proactive financial planning. Her accolades include being named an Honored Listee by Marquis Who's Who and winning the 2023 Retirement Planning Award from Wealth & Finance News, underscoring her expertise and influence in the industry.
Shateka's Impact & Community Engagement is profound and far-reaching. Born and raised in North Charleston, SC, she has dedicated herself to economic empowerment, particularly for underserved groups. She serves on the Board of Directors for Veterans Housing Solutions, advocating for stable housing for veterans, and for Keep It Moving, which supports transitioning female ex-offenders. For over a decade, she has volunteered as a motivational speaker for programs like Florence Crittenton (for pregnant teens), Junior Girls Community Outreach, and D.I.V.A.S. in Training, inspiring young women with messages of resilience and self-empowerment. Through SHFS, she offers free financial literacy programs, retirement checklists, and analyses, hosting events like the 2023 Charleston wealth-building summit that united global and local leaders to equip residents with money mindset strategies. Her work directly addresses economic disparities, creating pathways for Black entrepreneurs and families to achieve generational wealth.
What sets Shateka apart is her Vision & Innovation. She revolutionized retirement planning by integrating infinite banking concepts with protected, tax-advantaged accounts that shield clients from market volatility, inflation, and lawsuits – strategies that have helped clients access funds for critical needs, like one who withdrew $80,000 for cancer treatment without depleting savings. As the author of the #1 international best-seller, Reckless Abandonment, which topped charts in six categories, she blends spiritual insights with practical financial advice to foster mental, emotional, and economic victory. Her innovative approach extends to business owners, teaching them to leverage tax codes for maximum savings and cash flow, echoing Warren Buffett's principles of low-risk, high-return investing.
Shateka's Integrity & Values Alignment shines through her unwavering commitment to equity and empowerment. As a member of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and a combat veteran, she lives the USBC's core values by prioritizing ethical financial solutions that promote economic advancement for all, especially in Black communities. Client testimonials praise her patience, genuine concern for literacy, and ability to deliver peace of mind, reflecting her integrity in an industry often plagued by mistrust.
Finally, Shateka's National or Global Reach is evident in her brokerage spanning the U.S., her international best-seller status, and her speaking engagements that inspire audiences worldwide. From her headquarters in Marlton, NJ, to virtual consultations and global travels (including celebrations in Ghana), she extends her influence beyond local borders, driving measurable change in financial security and community upliftment.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my strong beliefs and how my mom raised me as the oldest of 3 coupled with serving as an Army officer in my twenties. Dedication to leading and serving others is what has shaped my entire adulthood. As a retired combat veteran, I’ve always been committed to helping people; whether it’s feeding the hungry, supporting the homeless, or guiding those preparing for retirement to live comfortably and happily. My passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives drives everything I do.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is: Endure hardness as a good soldier. No matter the challenge, my faith has never steered me wrong. This mindset has guided me through unbelievable obstacles, reminding me to stay resilient, keep moving forward, and trust in my ability to achieve my goals no matter the obstacles.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to "See yourself in the future! Operate based on who you're becoming, making decisions from a place of victory, not from temporary inconveniences." Success is always possible as long as you keep trying, stay persistent, and believe in your abilities. Don't be so hard on yourself because you will carry that same energy to how you treat others.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge and opportunity in my field right now is finding ways to effectively support those in need—whether it’s assisting individuals facing hardship or helping those preparing for retirement—while ensuring I provide the highest level of care and guidance possible.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important value in my work and personal life is maintaining a strong work-life balance, which allows me to show up fully, give my best effort, and support others effectively while still taking care of myself.
