About Shauna

My career journey has taken me from military service to the security industry. I served in the United States Navy from 2002 to 2012, and after completing my service, I transitioned into the security field. I worked for FJC Security starting in 2016 until the company was sold, then joined Arrow Security in 2021. At Arrow Security, I started as a dispatcher and worked my way up through the ranks, becoming an onboarding specialist and eventually advancing to my current position as a recruiter, where I've been for the past 2 years. My main responsibility is recruiting individuals with security guard licenses, setting up interviews to assess their potential, and guiding them through the onboarding process. I help candidates obtain the additional credentials they need beyond just the basic security guard license. What's interesting about how I got into this field is that I was actually looking for a job as a security officer, and because I was dressed professionally, they brought me inside the office to be part of administration instead. In 2023, I was honored to receive Employee of the Month recognition for my work.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I can give is keep reaching, and you will get to where you want to be. The recruiting industry, it can be hard at times, but keep pushing, and you'll be able to obtain what you want in your life.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The main challenge right now is looking for people who have security guard licenses. A lot of people don't realize that while it's the easiest thing to get, sometimes it's also the hardest, because we don't just require that they have the security guard license - they have to have some other credentials to go along with it. So we try to help them go through with how to get these credentials as well.
