Her Story

About ShaunaGaye

ShaunaGaye Bryant serves as a property manager level 3 in Stamford, Connecticut. With six years in property management, she entered the field after a temp role organizing files at a property led to an assistant property manager position under the guidance of a regional manager. She has since advanced to managing multiple properties and recently took on a turnaround opportunity at a single property at the request of her VP. Bryant holds certifications as a Certified Apartment Manager along with Task Order Certification and Home Certification. She won her company's Winner's Circle award, selected from over 4,000 employees. Bryant credits a strong mentor for her success and replicates that support by holding train-up meetings to teach her staff various aspects of property management. Her leadership style emphasizes being hands-on and proactive while adapting to individual employee needs to help them grow, as evidenced by two previous assistant managers advancing to property manager roles under her guidance. She aspires to progress to senior property manager, regional, RVP, and DVP positions. Outside her professional role, Bryant participates in community initiatives through a local mom group nonprofit, including coat drives, canned food drives, and donations to the Inspirica homeless shelter.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with ShaunaGaye

01What do you attribute your success to?

I had a really good mentor. She was really good mentor for me. And I think that's why, like, for me, I do the same, with my staff. I literally have meetings called train-ups, where I'm literally teaching them aspects of my job. So I think, like, just having a good mentor and being a good mentor is how I think that's how that would work for me.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to always, always, always, advocate for yourself. Nobody's gonna advocate for you. When I first became, when I first applied to be a property manager... it made me try harder... I sent an email to my RVP... I just said, hey, you know, I've been here, I'm doing everything, I know everything, and I think I'm a good fit for the job. So I would say that it's always best to advocate for yourself. Like, if you know what your worth is, then you should let other people know that you are worth it. And I would say that's the biggest thing for me, is always just going after what you want and advocating for yourself.
