Shaunte’ Dannielle Reese-Smith, MEd, MA
Shaunte’ Dannielle Reese-Smith, MEd, MA, is a dedicated education professional with extensive experience in teaching, mentoring, and charter school leadership. Currently, she serves as the Manager of Member and Partner Engagement at the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools, where she develops and maintains external relationships, creates engaging content, and advocates for quality education across Pennsylvania’s charter schools. Her work focuses on fostering strong connections between schools, families, and community stakeholders, ensuring that every student has access to meaningful educational opportunities. Shaunte’ began her career as a teacher, building a strong foundation in educational leadership and student development. She later transitioned into leadership roles, leveraging her expertise to empower educational communities and advocate for equity, representation, and excellence in schools. Her academic accomplishments include a Master of Education in Elementary Education and Teaching from Grand Canyon University and multiple degrees from Amridge University, including a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Master’s degrees in Leadership, Management, and Early Education. Known for her resilience, empathy, and commitment to mentoring the next generation, Shaunte’ has been recognized for her leadership within education and her community work. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and has mentored young girls in dance ministry and education, while advocating for children’s educational success, particularly young men of color. Her upcoming children’s book on grief highlights her dedication to supporting children through challenging experiences, combining her professional expertise with personal insight to make a lasting impact on the communities she serves.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience, dedication, and the invaluable guidance of influential mentors, including my mother, Yvonne Reese; my Godmother, Maria Anderson; and the strong leaders within my sorority who helped shape my leadership expectations. I am also deeply grateful for the many impactful family members—some of whom have transitioned and now serve as my ancestors—whose support has guided my path. Additionally, my personal experiences, including becoming a mother at a young age, have strengthened my determination to excel and to make a meaningful, lasting impact in the field of education.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I was inspired by the encouragement to remain focused on my goals and trust in my capacity to achieve them. This guidance motivated me to pursue advanced degrees and to embrace leadership roles that enable me to advocate for students and champion the needs of educational communities.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Prioritize building strong relationships, seek meaningful mentorship, and remain committed to lifelong learning. Embrace opportunities to lead and advocate, and strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of students and within the broader educational community.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
A central challenge—and opportunity—lies in advocating for educational equity and meaningful cultural representation while strengthening partnerships among schools, families, and community stakeholders. Additionally, there is a powerful opportunity to influence policies and programs that positively impact students of color.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Empathy, resilience, and a commitment to mentoring and supporting others are central to both my professional and personal life. I am dedicated to empowering students, families, and colleagues while promoting equity and cultural awareness in education.
