Her Story

About Shaunte

Shaunte Parker is a seasoned real estate professional with more than 20 years of experience serving clients across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. She began her real estate career in 2005 and has built a reputation as a top-producing agent specializing in residential real estate, relocations, buying, selling, and investment properties. Now with Compass, Shaunte combines deep local market knowledge with technology-driven tools and a client-first approach to help clients achieve their real estate goals.

Before entering real estate, Shaunte spent more than 15 years as an adjunct professor at Prince George’s Community College, teaching psychology and early childhood courses while mentoring hundreds of students. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from Spelman College and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Howard University. Her background in education continues to influence her approach to real estate, particularly through first-time homebuyer education and mentoring newer agents.

Shaunte is also committed to community service and expanding homeownership opportunities. In honor of her father, a Vietnam veteran, she founded House Keys for Vets, an initiative dedicated to helping veterans achieve homeownership. She has been recognized by Washingtonian Magazine as one of its 2026 Top Real Estate Agents and is also a proud mother, published author, avid traveler, and supporter of education who gives back to local schools and Spelman College.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shaunte

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my background in education, which taught me patience, communication, consistency, and the value of meaningful relationships. Transitioning into real estate after divorce allowed me to provide for my daughter while remaining present as a mother. I focus on building genuine relationships and serving my sphere of influence rather than simply pursuing transactions.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to keep my day job until I’m confident real estate is the right path for me. I also learned the importance of developing strong systems and business skills, while continuously learning from resources such as The Million Dollar Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering real estate is to keep your existing career until you’re confident it’s the right path for you. Build strong systems, understand the business side, and think like an entrepreneur. Most importantly, focus on building genuine relationships and nurturing your sphere of influence rather than simply chasing transactions.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are patience, communication, consistency, and building meaningful relationships. I strive to be a present and supportive parent and daughter while pursuing entrepreneurship, and I believe in giving back by investing in my communities and networks.
