About Shawna
Shawna Walden serves as a property manager, overseeing all aspects of her property including team management, move-ins, background checks, paperwork, unit inspections, maintenance coordination, vendor relations, and community events. With nine years in the field, she began as a leasing agent and advanced quickly to property manager within seven to eight months after her internship during college. Shawna specializes in HUD, Section 8 tax credit, and distressed properties, where she focuses on rebuilding communities and fostering a sense of neighborhood among residents. She earned a degree in business management and marketing from Ivy Tech Community College in Evansville and is planning to take the CAM test. Shawna attributes her success to integrity, clear communication, and consistency, and she advises young women entering the industry to take things day by day, stay positive, stick to their values, and keep working toward their goals.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think just having integrity and sticking to my values, clear communication, and being consistent.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take everything day by day. Don't expect to get everything done in one day. Take a deep breath. Shoot for your goal. Don't feel overwhelmed. If you have questions, don't be afraid to ask. Give it your all. Stay positive, stick to your values, and just keep going, because you'll eventually climb that ladder one day.
