Her Story

About Shea

Shea Childers serves in business development, a role she has held for the past three years following a successful transition from software and agile coaching. With over a decade of experience in her field, she engages daily with Navy customers to understand their requirements, discuss emerging technologies such as AI, and build relationships to meet future needs. Childers earned an MBA to facilitate her move into people-facing work. She is passionate about mentoring, recently participating in a career fair where she guided college students, and volunteers with Big Brother Big Sister, having once been a mentee herself, as well as with the nonprofit Valor, which supports transitioning service members. Childers attributes her professional success to her deep faith, often seeking divine guidance when facing imposter syndrome. She advises young women entering business development to enter rooms with poise and grace, listen actively, and challenge ideas confidently, as they may be the innovator the room needs. She notes that generational divides present both challenges and opportunities in the field, emphasizing the importance of meeting people where they are with gentleness.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shea

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm a very very very religious person so I think everything that I do has to point back at God. When I walk into rooms facing imposter syndrome I say God allow my words to carry me in this room allow me to make an impact that shows directly that it's coming from you.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid of the presence in the room that you walk into. You're there for a reason. You are there not by mistake. Step into that room have poise have grace be there to listen but also be there to not be afraid to challenge things as they come about because you could be that innovator that that room has been waiting for.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

We have divides with different generations right because generation from generation we all operate differently our mindset is different our experiences are different so being able to show up in a room full of people who don't think like you might not even have different backgrounds or similar processes as you. Being able to just be gentle with one another and meet people where they are.
