Ten minutes with Sheena
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received came from my parents: Run your own race. It means not to be concerned with what someone else is doing in their lives, in their personal, professional lives, looking over to the left, looking over to the right, but staying focused in my own lane and running my own race. Everybody's journey is not the same. Everybody's story's not gonna be the same. So you do what you can with what you have, and so you run your own race. It takes away the distraction of worrying about what somebody else is doing. You're just focusing on what your purpose is, and for your life, and what God has called you to do.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Keep your eyes on the prize. Be encouraged. Don't let naysayers, or people who don't see your vision that you have for your own life, deter you, or distract you, or keep you from accomplishing the goals that you have for yourself, or the vision that you would like to come to pass for your own life. Don't let it distract you, keep on pressing on, keep pushing. Stay positive. And keep the offers.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges is differentiate yourself, because real estate agents come a dime a dozen. Especially in this market, in this community. One of the things that helps is that I'm not only just a real estate agent, I'm a broker. And I have my own real estate company. Take school, I serve in leadership in the real estate team. And so Multifaceted, when it comes to real estate. Coaching other real estate agents. Serving in the community, volunteering. So, it's not just transactional, it's relationship-based. We help others. It's not just, oh, yeah, you sold a house. We, we're into relationship building and community service. Educating, encouraging, helping people's dreams come true.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, honesty, having good character. Being a servant leader, being able to serve others, and not just, you know, being selfless. Those are some of the things that both apply personally and professionally, because it's me, and so I'm the same person professionally and personally, and strong values of integrity. And, yeah, having a good character, and things like that.
