Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sheena
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to continuously seeking opportunities to expand my knowledge through certifications, technical training, and hands-on experience. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to learning new technologies, embracing challenges, and persevering while balancing both my professional responsibilities and motherhood. The guidance of mentors, combined with determination and a willingness to grow, has enabled me to build a rewarding career in software architecture and systems integration.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received came from my mentors, Robert Pritchard and my mother, who encouraged me to remain focused, continuously improve my skills, and make thoughtful financial and professional decisions. Their guidance taught me the importance of staying disciplined, being adaptable, and course-correcting whenever necessary while pursuing long-term goals.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to pursue careers that bring genuine fulfillment rather than focusing solely on reaching an end goal. Find purpose and satisfaction in the journey of learning and growing because even if your plans change, the experience itself will remain meaningful. Stay curious, continue developing your skills, and don't be afraid to pursue opportunities that challenge you and help you grow professionally.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I believe one of the greatest challenges is the continued underrepresentation of women in certain technical roles. At the same time, this presents a tremendous opportunity to break barriers and contribute fresh perspectives to the industry. I also see significant opportunities in designing innovative system integrations, solving complex technical problems that have not been addressed before, and building a strong personal brand that opens doors for future growth and leadership.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide both my professional and personal life are fulfillment, passion, perseverance, organization, and service to others. I believe meaningful work comes from doing what I enjoy while remaining committed to continuous learning, helping my community, and making a positive impact through both my career and volunteer efforts.
