Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Balancing a career and family life is no small feat, but it’s entirely possible with intention and perseverance. My advice to young women entering the field is to find your voice early and hold onto it. Confidence is key — not arrogance, but a grounded self-assurance that allows you to stand your ground when it matters. You don’t need to be overly aggressive to be heard; instead, strive for a thoughtful and balanced approach. Speak with clarity, listen with purpose, and remember that your perspective is not only valid but valuable.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field today is overcoming long-standing gender stereotypes, particularly in architecture where leadership roles remain male-dominated. Throughout my career journey, becoming an associate principal has been a significant milestone—one that required consistently proving myself in meetings with clients and contractors to be taken seriously. Navigating these dynamics has not been easy, but I’ve relied on hard work, persistence, and a deep commitment to excellence to earn respect and drive meaningful progress. These challenges also present opportunities to reshape perceptions, create more inclusive environments, and pave the way for future women leaders in the industry.
