Sheila S. Beesley-Smith, BSN, RN is the Owner and Founder of Beesley Consulting, LLC, a nursing and administrative consultancy supporting assisted living, memory care, and residential care communities across the Pacific Northwest. Founded on March 17, the firm has been operating for five years, providing ongoing contracts, mandated-state consultation work, and interim leadership support to healthcare facilities. Sheila combines her clinical expertise with strategic leadership to help organizations maintain compliance, improve care quality, and optimize operational efficiency.
Sheila’s professional focus includes clinical systems, medication oversight, RN delegation, quality assurance, and interim administration. She attributes her drive and dedication to her strong Christian faith and prioritizes honesty, maintaining a joyful work environment, and being “a bright light” for those around her. Over her career, she has served as a regional nurse consultant for over 16 years and has 21 years of experience as a registered nurse. She is a licensed administrator in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington and is frequently called upon by state health agencies to restore compliance in facilities requiring expert intervention.
Sheila holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, graduating summa cum laude in 2022, and earned her Associate of Science in Nursing from Boise State University, where she received a Distinguished Student Award for Academic Excellence. She is an active supporter of the Idaho Health Care Association and maintains mandated consultant roles with state health agencies in Oregon and Idaho. Throughout her career, Sheila has been recognized for her clinical acumen, integrity, and ability to inspire and guide healthcare teams toward excellence in senior care.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my faith in God, which has guided me through challenges, provided clarity in decision-making, and given me the strength and perseverance to pursue my goals with purpose and integrity.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to choose a field that aligns with my internal “magnetic north” and resonates with my moral compass. By following work that truly drives me and reflects my values, I am able to pursue meaningful achievements and reach my fullest potential while staying authentic to who I am.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Pick work that aligns with your internal moral compass and don’t lose your compassion women in healthcare must hold on to the reason they entered the field.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the ongoing nursing staff shortage. This shortage creates increased demands on existing staff, impacts patient care, and highlights the urgent need for effective recruitment, retention, and workforce development strategies. At the same time, it presents an opportunity to innovate in staffing models, invest in professional development, and strengthen support systems to ensure both quality care and a sustainable work environment for nursing professionals.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my professional and personal life are honesty, a sense of humor, and the ability to bring joy to the people around me. I prioritize transparency and integrity in all my interactions, while also believing in the importance of staying grounded and not taking myself too seriously. I strive to create an environment whether at work or in my personal life that balances professionalism with warmth, approachability, and a sense of fun.
