Her Story

About Sheila

Sheila Fuller is the founder and CEO of Fuller HR Strategies, LLC, and an HR executive with more than 15 years of experience in human resources. With a particular focus on employee relations, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, leadership coaching, and organizational strategy, she is often called into situations involving conflict, damaged trust, or the need for organizational clarity. Her mission is to help organizations protect their people, protect their business, and strengthen their culture while demonstrating that healthy boundaries, accountability, and peace can coexist. Fuller is also the author of Pick a Side: How to Hold Your Boundaries When Family, Friends, and Work Life Want You to Choose, a book inspired by both her professional experience and lived experience navigating boundaries in family, friendships, caregiving, and workplaces. She earned her education at San Diego State University and attributes her success to her resilience, refusing to let experience define her story, and focusing on the changes she creates rather than recognition. Her core values center on respect for everyone she interacts with, integrity in actions taken when unobserved, and the importance of how she makes people feel, as she aims to leave a lasting positive footprint. Fuller advises young women entering the field to be their authentic selves, invest in self-development and training, and recognize that strong leadership requires both compassion and accountability. She has been involved in philanthropic efforts including the March of Dimes since the mid-1980s, USJC (Unfragmented Justice) supporting the unhoused community in Oakland, and Evolvey providing housing for low-income families and elders for the past two years.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sheila

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success stems from my resilience and not pretending to experience something that didn't happen. It's also refusing to let experience write the rest of my story. Influence has very little to do with how many people know your name, but what changes because you're in the room.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be your authentic self and work on your self-development. Hone in on training and define what makes you feel like you're adding meaningfulness. Strong leadership requires compassion and accountability, which are not opposites.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Respect for everyone I interact with, integrity (what you do when people are not looking), and how I make people feel because people remember how you made them feel. I want to leave a footprint so they remember how I made them feel.
