Her Story

About Sheila

Sheila Peterson has been working in the optical industry for 18 years and currently serves as an eyewear consultant for Clear Vision. In her role, she visits nearly 269 private practices and businesses to help with frameboard management, best business practices, maintaining profit margins based on P&L reports, managing staff conflict and burnout, and training staff to develop their knowledge and reach their potential. Prior to this position of six to seven months, she was a practice manager for an independent practice with a mix of medical and optical services. Her career path began as a medical assistant, followed by becoming a surgical technician specializing in cataract surgeries and lid reductions after earning degrees from Palomar College and Concord. She later worked as a lab technician and optometric tech at LensCrafters before moving into leadership roles. Peterson obtained her ABO certification from the American Board of Opticianry and is a member of the Women's Opticians Association while serving as an ambassador in a new program to counsel new opticians. She is passionate about mentoring others, providing excellent customer service, and helping patients and practices succeed, and she advises young professionals to pursue certifications, focus on education over upselling, and never stop learning.
