Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sheila

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to staying driven while remaining grounded and committed to continuous growth. I am always striving to improve myself, not only for my own personal and professional development, but also for my family and the people around me. My motivation comes from the desire to become better each day, continue learning, and positively influence those I have the opportunity to lead, support, and work alongside.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to remain true to myself and never allow external circumstances to change who I am. I am naturally empathetic and humble, and I have learned the importance of preserving those qualities regardless of the pressures, challenges, or negativity that may arise in a professional environment. I believe in continuing to lead with compassion, care, and authenticity, even amid stress and chaos, because staying grounded in who I am is essential to both my personal integrity and my professional success.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to pursue work that genuinely inspires and fulfills them. If a role or environment no longer aligns with their goals or values, they should gain the experience they can, learn from the opportunity, and have the courage to move forward. It is important to find purpose and happiness in what you do while looking for the positive and identifying the lessons and opportunities for growth, even in challenging situations.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field right now include limited opportunities for professional development, hiring freezes, and reduced internal mobility. As organizations become more cautious about hiring and restructuring, opportunities to move into new roles or advance within the company can be limited. In some cases, available positions require significant relocation, such as moving many hours away or transitioning from a remote role to a home-office-based position. These challenges make flexibility and adaptability increasingly important, while also highlighting the opportunity to continue developing skills, building strong professional relationships, and remaining prepared for new opportunities as the industry evolves.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, empathy, and authenticity. I believe in treating people with kindness, respect, and genuine care, regardless of their position or circumstances. I strive to remain true to who I am and to lead and interact with others in a way that reflects honesty and compassion. I believe that when you consistently treat people the right way and conduct yourself with integrity, those actions ultimately create meaningful relationships, trust, and positive outcomes.
