Prior to joining InComm Payments, where she has served for more than two years, Shekia worked as an analyst with TSYS, helping financial institutions implement and manage payment and banking solutions. Her career in banking and financial services began on the front lines as a teller and has expanded across a variety of roles involving client services, technical support, payment processing, treasury applications, and compliance oversight. This broad experience has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of the financial services industry and a unique ability to bridge operational, technical, and regulatory functions.
One of Shekia’s greatest professional strengths is her willingness to identify opportunities for improvement and champion meaningful change. She takes pride in speaking up when processes can be strengthened and finding practical solutions that create long-term value for her organization. A notable example was her leadership in improving the company’s audit tracking process. Recognizing the limitations and risks associated with managing audits through spreadsheets, she helped drive the transition to a centralized ticketing system that streamlined audit requests, improved recordkeeping, reduced the potential for errors, and enhanced reporting capabilities. Combined with her Master’s degree in Accounting from Liberty University, her dedication to operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement continues to position her as a respected professional within the banking and financial services industry.

Ten minutes with Shekia
01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them not to be afraid to try something new. I thought that I would be more in an accounting role because my master's is in accounting, but it was hard finding a position, and I wound up in this one. Sometimes you just fall into something, and it all works out.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family is probably one of my biggest values. I also value being ethical, having integrity, and accountability. Honesty and hard work are important to me as well. Accountability is a big one for me.
