Shekinah Lee

My journey in the beauty industry spans over 20 years, starting when I was just a kid. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a major in PR and a minor in dance, and back then I was known as a dancer with all my goals related to dance. My modeling career began unexpectedly when I hopped on a casting director's live stream to ask a question about dance, and he told me I was beautiful and should be a model. He gave me one of my first opportunities, and I've been modeling ever since. My typical fashion show day involves an early wake-up with heavy skincare and a full shower routine, lots of beauty maintenance like conditioning my hair, and then call times around noon for hair and makeup. While getting ready, I'm usually responding to emails with my laptop open because I'm also the executive director of a nonprofit. Right now I'm doing a lot of runway work. One of my most notable achievements has been walking in both the fall and spring seasons of New York Fashion Week, going from a small-town Chicago girl to being noticed in New York and running with the big dogs. My mom, who was also a model, is my reason why I'm still modeling to this day and why I started 20 years ago when I was a kid.
