Shelby Giles

Shelby Giles serves as an estimator for a subcontractor operating in the commercial real estate sector. She prepares proposals and budgets for general contractors on ground-up construction and renovation projects. Her areas of specialization include interior specialties such as commodity products like toilet partitions, toilet accessories, and fire extinguisher cabinets, along with exclusive regional products including operable partitions, skylights, walkable skylights, and large fire doors. Shelby has been in the construction industry for a little over a year, having transitioned from owning a horse training business for five years. She advanced from assistant estimator to estimator within her first year at the firm. Her educational background includes completing the technical honor society portion of high school and attending A&M for one year in a pre-vet program before entering the workforce full time. She is a member of the American Subcontractors Association Houston chapter and participates in her company's culture committee, which organizes care packages for women and children's shelters as well as back-to-school backpacks for children in need. Shelby advises young women entering the industry to pursue opportunities without hesitation, play to their strengths, remain true to themselves, and recognize that there is a place for everyone regardless of personality type.
