Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shelby

01What do you attribute your success to?

Truly, I owe all of my career success to my old mentor and old boss, Grace Bollinger, without her giving me the opportunity to work in the Cigna Medicare space and continuing to guide me even now throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Find what you love to do early on. That's really stuck with me because too many times I've met people that they'll find what they love when they're 50, 60, and have already put so much effort into another career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Know your worth and know what you enjoy doing. You don't have to follow the mold of what everyone else is doing, you can pave your own way and make it your own while still making an impact on other lives in a positive manner.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is finding like-minded agents and agencies in this market. The majority of them are in it for the wrong reasons and leave their clients feeling more confused than ever.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I truly value the one-on-one connection that I make with my clients. At these independent senior living facilities, I value them as people and the relationships that I've created with them. Sometimes I am their closest family member.
