Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shelly

01What do you attribute your success to?

I credit my success to a blend of consistent hard work, unwavering dedication, and the patience to see it through.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Regardless of the challenges you face, lead with grace under pressure. Always take the high road, never take things personally, and remain grounded in hard work and unwavering loyalty.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Hard times are inevitable, but giving up is optional and a choice. If you're on the edge of a breakdown, have an impromptu 30-second dance party to reset your mind and body. Be like a swan—gliding smoothly on the surface no matter how hard you're kicking underneath. Stay graceful, handle your business, and don't give anyone the satisfaction of seeing you falter.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunity is scaling, there's virtually no limit to how much I can grow my team and build future leaders at my firm. The primary challenge is hiring for culture and drive and finding people whose motivations genuinely match our ambition.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

At my core, I'm driven by family, integrity, and positivity. Mutual support with my son, family and friends keeps me anchored, while a strong moral and ethical compass guides how I do business. Beyond that, I make a conscious effort to bring optimism and good energy into every room. I truly believe that when you lead with a positive mindset, the world reflects it back to you.
