Her Story
About Shenaz
I've spent over 20 years building my career in customer service and account management. I started right after high school in Sweden, where I'm originally from, and when I moved to the U.S., I was happy to get a job and continue in customer service because I'm a person that loves interacting with people. Throughout my career, I've taken on different roles - I was a customer service team lead managing about 5-6 people, and I also served as a one-person liaison handling the field team, sales team, planning, and finance all at once. My main responsibilities involved processing orders that came in from customers, whether internal, external, or international, making sure made-to-order products were sent to planning, and keeping customers notified throughout the process. I would handle 10 to 15 orders a day that had to be processed within 48 hours, while also helping my team with quotes and supporting finance with their questions and weekly metrics meetings. I've always been passionate about helping customers, building relationships with accounts, and making them trust me so they'd come back and order more. I also worked part-time at Ulta Beauty because I genuinely enjoy working with customers and helping them. One of the things I've always wanted to do in my career is mentor and help other people succeed. I'm customer-friendly and adapt very well to new things - that's how I've gotten far in my career path, by taking on challenging projects and adapting to new situations. In 2019, my team and I won an award for handling big customer accounts and sending out instruments, which I consider my biggest achievement. Unfortunately, I was laid off last year, but I'm looking forward to new opportunities.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was from my first employer when I got hired. She told me that hard work is going to pay off, and that if you work hard, you will be able to get to the pros in your career. That's what I've been doing ever since - I've kept thinking about what she told me when I got hired, and I've let that guide my career path.
