About Sherena
Sherena Timmons, based in Wingate, North Carolina, is the founder and owner of Natural for You by Sherena, a growing business specializing in natural skincare, hair care, and self-care products. She began developing and selling her products in 2018, turning a personal experience into a business built on creativity, perseverance, and a passion for natural ingredients.
Sherena’s journey began following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2016 and the chemotherapy and radiation treatments that followed. After experiencing hair loss and bald spots, she found that traditional hair products were not providing the results she was looking for. Determined to find a natural approach, she began researching essential oils, herbs, and other natural ingredients and experimenting with her own formulations. Over time, that personal journey evolved into the foundation of Natural for You by Sherena.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Sherena worked as a pharmacy technician, where she gained valuable experience and familiarity with medicines and ingredients. Her lifelong experience in the kitchen also helped develop her ability to measure, combine, and experiment with different ingredients—skills that naturally translated into creating her own product formulations.
Today, Natural for You by Sherena products are available through multiple retail locations throughout North and South Carolina, including Bountiful Blessings and Piedmont Country Store in Monroe, Stegall Produce Market and Indian Trail Pharmacy in Indian Trail, Franklin Street Pharmacy and Clipperz Barber & Beauty in Monroe, Love Family Farms in Lancaster, South Carolina, and several stores in Oakboro, North Carolina.
Sherena is also a member of ITEX in Charlotte, North Carolina, which she joined in February. Through networking and mentorship, including the guidance and support of mentor Mandi Seate, she has continued to expand her business and establish new retail partnerships.
For Sherena, Natural for You by Sherena represents more than a business. It represents resilience, creativity, and the belief that a personal challenge can become the beginning of something meaningful. She continues to grow her brand while building relationships with customers, retailers, and her community.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God, perseverance, hard work, and believing in myself and my vision. I have learned that success doesn't happen overnight. It takes consistency, patience, and the willingness to keep going even when things don't happen as quickly as you hoped.
I also attribute my success to listening to my customers, continually improving my products, and building genuine relationships within my community. Every customer, vendor event, retail location, review, and opportunity has helped Natural for You by Sherena grow.
Most importantly, I never gave up on the vision I had for my business. I started with a passion for creating natural products and a desire to help others, and I continue to grow by staying committed to that purpose.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never give up on yourself or your vision. Keep learning, stay consistent, and be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Success takes time, and every experience—good or bad—can teach you something that helps you grow. Most importantly, believe in what you’re building and keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t easy.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe in yourself, know your worth, and don’t be afraid to take up space. Start where you are, use what you have, and be willing to learn along the way.
Don’t let fear of failure stop you from pursuing your vision. There will be challenges and setbacks, but each experience can help you become stronger and wiser. Build relationships, listen to your customers, continue learning, and stay true to who you are.
Most importantly, don’t wait for someone else to give you permission to pursue your dream. If you believe in your idea, work for it, be consistent, and give yourself the opportunity to see how far it can go.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in the natural products industry is standing out in a crowded marketplace while continuing to build trust with customers. As a small business owner, managing production, marketing, inventory, distribution, and growth can also be challenging.
At the same time, there are tremendous opportunities. More people are interested in natural products, supporting small businesses, and discovering products made with carefully selected ingredients. There are also opportunities to expand into more retail locations, partnerships, events, and larger markets.
For me, the greatest opportunity is continuing to grow Natural for You by Sherena while staying true to the quality, personal connection, and purpose behind the brand.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity, faith, hard work, perseverance, honesty, and treating people with respect. I believe in doing what is right, keeping my word, and treating others the way I would want to be treated.
In my work, I value quality, authenticity, and building genuine relationships with my customers and community. In my personal life, I value family, gratitude, and staying true to who I am.
I believe that success means more than simply growing a business. It means growing while maintaining your values, making a positive impact, and being proud of the person and business you are building.
