About Sherie
Sherie Bartik serves as Director of HR for Famous Supply, a wholesale distribution company based in Akron, Ohio. She has held this position since 2021 and has worked in full HR roles since 2018, after gaining experience in the finance industry as well as chiropractic and medical offices. Bartik began college as a psychology major before switching to social work and ultimately earning degrees in HR, which allowed her to combine her business background with a people-focused approach. She oversees typical HR functions including recruiting, employee relations, terminations, FMLA, benefits, and payroll, while emphasizing team development and removing the traditional stigma associated with HR to make it more approachable. Bartik is proud of her team's growth, having witnessed members receive company-wide awards, and she received the Values Influencer Award in 2024 and the Passion Award in 2023. Her advice to young women entering the field is to talk less and listen more, gathering all facts before responding emotionally.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Talk less, listen more. I think one of the most important things is to get all the facts first, before you have any kind of an emotional response. Listen longer, and when you think you're done listening, see if there's a question you could ask that you could listen longer, because the truth is never usually the first thing you hear, it's somewhere underneath.
