Sheri Palmer, MLS, CPI/NCI is a highly skilled Investigator and Security Professional with over a decade of experience in security management, loss prevention, and investigative work. Throughout her career, she has held roles at some of Florida’s most respected institutions, including Walt Disney World, the Swan and Dolphin Marriott Hotel, and Orlando Health–Dr. Phillips Hospital. Her expertise spans complex investigations, workplace and complaint inquiries, and crisis management. Sheri has consistently demonstrated her ability to ensure safety, integrity, and operational excellence in high-pressure environments while leading teams with professionalism and dedication.

In her current role as an Investigator for the State of Florida, Sheri applies her extensive background in security and investigation to protect vulnerable populations and uphold the highest standards of public safety. Her earlier roles as a Security Investigator at Walt Disney World and a Security Professional at Orlando Health–Dr. Phillips Hospital honed her skills in evidence collection, threat assessment, and policy enforcement. Sheri’s leadership at Stowe Mountain Resort further strengthened her ability to train and manage security personnel, coordinate with emergency response teams, and implement proactive safety measures to mitigate risk and enhance public trust.

Academically, Sheri holds a Master of Science in Legal Studies from Purdue University Global, where she graduated with distinction and was inducted into the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society. She also earned a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Polk State College and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Johnson State College. Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI/NCI) and holding a Florida Class D Security License, Sheri continues to advance her expertise in investigation and protective services. Working in the field of Adult Protective Investigations is both challenging and deeply meaningful, and it requires unwavering dedication. Each day, I remind myself why I chose this profession—to protect vulnerable adults and make a tangible difference in their lives—which keeps me motivated and committed to the work I do.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to take each day as it comes, stay strong, and never lose sight of the purpose behind my work. I remind myself daily of the oath I took and the responsibility I carry—to serve with integrity, compassion, and commitment. By doing so, I ensure that every action I take helps make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people I serve.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay strong, resilient, and adaptable. This field can be demanding, but every challenge is an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Learn to navigate obstacles with confidence, stay true to your purpose, and never lose sight of the impact your work can have on others.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is maintaining strength and compassion while navigating the emotional toll that often comes with this line of work. Having faced personal tragedies—the loss of my daughter and parents, and my husband’s stroke—I’ve learned the importance of resilience and purpose. Despite these hardships, I remain deeply committed to protecting and serving others. I view my continued growth in Adult Protective Investigations not only as a professional advancement but also as an opportunity to make a greater difference in the lives of those who need it most.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values to me, both in my work and personal life, are service, compassion, and balance. I take great pride in being able to protect and help as many people as I can through my work, knowing that each person I assist makes a difference. Equally important is my family, who provide me with strength, love, and support. They help refill my cup at the end of each day, allowing me to continue fulfilling the calling and responsibility I’ve been entrusted with in my profession.
