Sherita Anderson, DHA, MBA, is an experienced healthcare and insurance professional serving as an Account Executive for Large Group accounts at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee in the Memphis Metropolitan Area. She is responsible for managing an assigned book of business, overseeing renewals, resolving benefits and billing issues, and providing strategic guidance to group administrators and brokers. With nearly two decades of association with Blue Cross Blue Shield and more than 22 years in the insurance and healthcare industry overall, Sherita specializes in benefits administration, client retention, and contract negotiation, delivering tailored solutions that strengthen client partnerships and support organizational success.

Dr. Anderson holds a Doctor of Healthcare Administration from Virginia University of Lynchburg, a Master of Business Administration from Bethel University, and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Organizational Leadership from Bethel University. She is licensed as an Insurance Producer by the State of Tennessee and brings a strong foundation in healthcare management, human resources, project management, and regulatory compliance, including HIPAA and the Affordable Care Act. Sherita began her insurance career in customer service supporting an HMO product at Blue Cross Blue Shield, progressed through multiple roles over approximately 14.5 years, transitioned into HR leadership in the long-term care sector, and later spent more than seven years at Cigna Healthcare before returning to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, where she has served nearly six additional years in large group account leadership.

Guided by her values of faith, hard work, continuous improvement, and determination, Sherita is passionate about improving healthcare access and strengthening client relationships through strategic problem-solving and effective communication. She is recognized for her coaching, leadership, and relationship-building skills and continues to be a trusted advisor to employers, brokers, and healthcare partners. Outside of her professional work, Sherita is a devoted mother and grandmother, active in church ministries, and enjoys traveling, shopping, spending time with family, and cheering on her favorite football teams.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never give up; be steadfast and keep learning. Believe in yourself and your abilities; the industry changes often and can be rewarding when you help people in difficult moments.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The industry is heavily impacted by changing state and federal law and political agendas, making it an ever-evolving landscape. Senior roles in large-group account management are limited and often long-held, so openings are meaningful when they occur.
