Her Story
About SheRita
I've been in food service for 24 years. I currently oversee concessions at Northwest Stadium for the Washington Commanders, managing 28 stands and feeding season ticket holders. Previously I owned my own restaurant for 2 years and worked with Airmark for 4 years. My mother Belinda Horton, a chef, inspired me to follow in her footsteps.

Ten minutes with SheRita
01What do you attribute your success to?
Being able to motivate people who don't believe in themselves. A lot of people think food service is so easy but it's really not, and so being able to hire and promote people who don't believe in themselves to push them to be greater really does it for me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Stay organized, always stay calm. Food service is always on the fly so stay organized.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get a great mentorship, get with a larger corporate company and get with a great chef that can train you and help you take your career to the next level because it's gonna take guidance and patience.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is keeping people employed year-round because our stadium is not a dome so work is seasonal leading to high turnover. The greatest opportunity is travel to support other stadiums like helping with clubs and catering at Washington Nationals.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family and food safety first. Always make sure we handle the food properly and take care of the customer.
