Her Story
About Sherri
I've been in the beauty industry for over 30 years, starting in 1987 when I graduated at the top of my class from beauty school. They offered me an opportunity to come back and teach, but I decided to go after what I love, which was making women beautiful and feel beautiful so that they can go and do the things that they love to do. My typical day involves setting up the salon, making sure everything is prepared, sanitizing all the chairs, stocking the products, and getting the store up and going so we can start clients. I make sure each customer's hair is going to be done properly, preparing for the maintenance part of it, deciding what products I'm going to use and what services they're receiving. My most notable professional achievement is having the business where I can provide those services and a safe place for women to come and be served and be able to be themselves without having to worry about the men being around. It's definitely a rewarding experience, and I enjoy it. Before going out on my own, I worked for Visible Changes where I received awards for highest retail performer for the month and Stylist of the Month.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It's okay to express yourself and do something that you love as a career versus going to work at a job that you don't like. I saw this opportunity as a chance to share with other women that you can pursue what you're passionate about and make it your life's work. When you do something you love, like I have for over 30 years, it becomes more than just a job. It's about making women feel beautiful so they can go and do the things that they love to do.
