What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve received came from my mentor, Dr. Tracy Green-Chittenden, my current CMO. She has been a huge inspiration through her accomplishments in behavioral health, teaching me the importance of asking for help, working collaboratively, and embracing leadership opportunities with confidence.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Over the last 25 years, the opportunities in behavioral health and social services have expanded tremendously. My advice to young women entering this field is to be open-minded and explore all opportunities. The industry intersects with multiple sectors, and by embracing diverse experiences, you can grow into leadership roles and make a significant impact.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being able to set boundaries and confidently say “no” when necessary is both a challenge and an opportunity in our field. Balancing leadership responsibilities with the mission of serving communities requires intentional focus and prioritization.
