Her Story

About Sherry

Sherry McBride is the Manager of Provider Enrollment at Blue Cross Blue Shield. In this role, she oversees her team's efforts to ensure providers are accurately enrolled in Medicare. McBride has spent a total of eight years with the organization, beginning with customer service responsibilities under Obamacare where she managed inquiries, escalations, and helped members understand their plans and access needed medications and doctors. Her educational background includes an early education degree followed by a bachelor's degree in psychology, and she is now pursuing a master's degree in public health. McBride attributes her drive to a passion for creating positive impacts on others and helping people recognize that personal experiences do not have to define their future. She has volunteered with Girl Scouts, finding fulfillment in supporting young people, and she advises young women entering her field that personal experiences should not be viewed as setbacks.

Ten minutes with Sherry

01What do you attribute your success to?

What drives me is passion, a passion for wanting to have a positive impact on people, for wanting to help others be better in life overall. A lot of my personal experiences have kind of shaped who I am. So it's just my passion for wanting to help people, for wanting people to know that just because you've experienced certain things in life doesn't mean that it's set in stone, and you have the ability to make the change.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My best advice is that personal experiences should not be looked at as a setback, and it doesn't have to define your actual future.
