Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sherry
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success is basically having a good sense of work ethic, and putting in the time to learn new technique, the industry, learning, reading up on a lot of the scientific background, the medical, just learning a little bit more about the medical aspect of the industry. Keeping myself informed, and learning what other doctors are doing in the field as well, other medical practices, other medical clinics. And then just having that drive and that ambition to keep learning.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received was in a sales position, you always have to make sure that you're always providing help. It's not like in a sales position, you don't want to seem too salesy, but always giving them the best plan for them, and providing, just letting them know that you can help them in any way possible. So it's not you're not coming off like you have their best interests at heart. To really be very helpful, and also just always provide a service that makes them want to come back. Making yourself very unique in that way, that you are approachable, that you are friendly, that you are somebody that is knowledgeable, and that they feel comfortable enough to go with you. You have to always make them feel like you're there to really help them out, and maintain the expectations too. We have to be very authentic and real.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
For females, the best advice I can give for a female getting into this industry is that try to help the other females in the industry. I did feel and I did run across a lot of females that were very competitive. Instead of being helpful, it was more like competitive edge. Just open yourself up, and always try to help the next female, and be supportive. They'll always remember that, and success is in numbers. If you work for a sales team, you should work as a team. Women should support themselves, support each other more, more so than being competitive.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity is a big one. Ambition. You have to stay true to yourself, always stay true to who you are. Don't try to pretend like you know what you're talking about if you don't know, then you don't know, and it's okay. You can always learn what it is that you don't know and face the challenges instead of, you gotta take them on, and be strong, and handle them as they come. Also be more verbal, verbalize what's going on. Communication skills is very important.
