About Sherry
I am a project management and documentation professional with over four decades of experience in the telecommunications and publishing industries, having spent the majority of my career at GTE Data Services and Verizon, where I held progressively responsible roles from 1987 to 2014. As a Project Manager for over twenty years, I tracked capital and expense budgets for hardware and software of over forty-one million dollars, achieving consistent reductions that over four years reduced the combined budget to twenty-six million dollars. I coordinated interaction between executive management, program offices, and project managers, created executive presentations and ad hoc reports, reviewed hardware and software requests for validity and affordability, led daily checkpoint meetings, and worked across organizations to identify and implement vendor and budget reductions.
Prior to my role as Project Manager, I served as Senior Analyst in Documentation for six years, where I developed documentation and training materials to support internal systems, developed user requirements, created test scripts, and conducted testing. I also served as Documentation Designer for one year, where I managed a team of four graphics and three print associates, designed formats, and developed templates and training.
Earlier in my career, I spent fourteen years in the publication industry across Alabama, North Carolina, and Oklahoma, where I single-handedly launched a new business in a small community that successfully addressed a niche opportunity, worked as a Graphic Designer for a photofinishing company, served as a Sales Representative and Staff Artist for a newspaper, and worked as an Illustrator for the US Army.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Fine and Studio Arts from Oklahoma College of Science and Arts.
Across my career in project management, documentation, and the publication industry, my work has been driven by a commitment to operational excellence, strategic planning, and creative problem-solving. Whether I was managing multi-million-dollar budgets, developing training materials, or launching a new business, I brought a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a dedication to delivering high-quality results. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and the lasting impact I have made in the organizations I have served.
