Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sherry Lynn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my tremendous drive. It has fueled my determination to overcome challenges, pursue continuous growth, and stay committed to my goals. My strong work ethic, resilience, and willingness to keep learning have enabled me to seize opportunities and consistently strive for excellence in everything I do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my father: never expect your team to do anything you haven’t been willing to do yourself. If you’re going to ask someone to scrub a toilet, they should have seen you do it first. That lesson taught me the importance of leading by example, earning respect through action, and never asking others to take on tasks I wouldn’t do myself. It has been a guiding principle throughout my career and leadership journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to avoid taking HR decisions personally—they're part of the job. Just as importantly, don't let work-related stress carry over into your personal life. Set healthy boundaries and strive to maintain a balanced life.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in the HR field is the growing demand for skilled professionals. Because the role involves managing complex people issues, many are reluctant to pursue it. For those who are passionate about helping organizations and employees succeed, this creates significant opportunities for career growth and impact.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is the value I hold above all else, both professionally and personally. I can work through any challenge, but dishonesty is something I cannot accept. Trust is the foundation of every strong relationship.
