Originally from Santiago de Cuba, Sheyla brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. Her professional journey has taken her from music, entertainment, and media into the travel industry, where she has built a business rooted in personal service, destination expertise, and authentic experiences.
Sheyla specializes in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe, with a particular focus on Cuba. Her deep connection to Cuba allows her to create experiences that go beyond sightseeing, connecting travelers with local people, culture, music, cuisine, and communities.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think it's my own tenacity, and I'm a doer, you know? I like to get things done. And the support of my husband. He's been for me here all the way. He always encouraged me. And I'm also looking for the support of organizations that are my resource, like the American Society Travel Advisors.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Focus your business on a region rather than a single destination.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find a mentor and create a clear, step-by-step plan to achieve your goals. Know your product inside and out, know your target audience, and don’t give up when things don’t go as you expected. Keep pressing on and finding ways to reinvent yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is that people use AI to plan their trips instead of calling a professional. The opportunity is to embrace technology to help manage everyday tasks.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value the freedom of working from home. And that I am my own boss, because I own my travel agency. I can come and go as I please, and that I get to travel the world, and help other people achieve their dreams of seeing some destinations.
