Her Story

About Shinere

Shinere “S.E. Taylor” Taylor is an author, speaker, entrepreneur, and advocate for personal transformation. Her journey has been anything but ordinary. Having experienced homelessness, incarceration, the loss of her business, and the heartbreaking loss of her father, Shinere understands firsthand what it means to rebuild when life falls apart.

Rather than allowing her circumstances to define her, she transformed her pain into purpose. Through storytelling, speaking engagements, and her book, Projects to Progress, she inspires others to embrace resilience, rediscover their voice, and create a life beyond their setbacks.

Known for her raw honesty, humor, and ability to connect with audiences from all walks of life, Shinere speaks on overcoming adversity, personal growth, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and the power of rewriting your story.

Her mission is simple: to show people that their greatest struggles do not have to become their final chapter. Through every stage she steps on and every story she shares, she reminds others that healing, growth, and success are possible—regardless of where they begin.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shinere

01What do you attribute your success to?

I contribute my success to resilience, faith, accountability, and purpose. Every setback taught me a lesson, and every lesson became part of my mission. I believe my greatest pain became my greatest platform because my story is someone else’s survival guide.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Faith gets you in the room. Focus keeps you there. Follow through gets you promoted.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You don’t need permission to change your story

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Opportunities include becoming a public speaker, hosting women's conferences in July and October, doing a book tour, turning my book into a movie or screenplay, and getting on different platforms to inspire others. The main challenge is building up the audience and community.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Values that are important to me: faith, honesty, and showing up — even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.”
