Her Story

About Shirin

Shirin Lochan has built a career in supply chain management spanning nearly a decade. She currently focuses on procurement, demand planning, sourcing parts, and global sourcing as part of the aerospace supply chain. Prior to her current position, Lochan worked at Amazon for almost 11 years, beginning as a contractor in Amazon Fresh and fulfillment centers before becoming a permanent employee. There, she contributed to process improvements, standardized procedures, and supported multiple building launches, including the first Amazon bookstore. She advanced through roles as a logistics manager trainee, Supply Chain Manager, and Global Sourcing Manager before transitioning into aerospace. Lochan earned her BA in Business Management from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, while balancing her studies with her career progression at Amazon. She also holds an esthetician license. Lochan attributes her professional success to her Christian faith, which guided her through career transitions and challenges, along with long hours of hard work and determination to overcome obstacles as a woman in primarily male-dominated companies. She values trust, integrity, and accountability in both her professional and personal life, and advises others to own their careers by actively seeking growth opportunities.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shirin

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think, for me, it would be God. I'm a Christian. I do believe that in the power of God, I want to say he's helped guide me and lead me to be successful in my career. It took a lot of praying, and humbling my heart... Long hours, a lot of hard work... being a woman, also, I think we face a lot of challenges in primarily male-dominant companies.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've ever been given is you own your own career. I don't think opportunities for growth are just handed to you, I think it's to look for those opportunities to grow and focus on to grow your career and go in the direction that you want to ultimately go into.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Own your own career, like just make sure no one gets in your way of hindering your success, especially in the direction you want to go into. I think women are powerful, and they are very impactful, and don't ever let anyone discourage you from achieving your goal.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The biggest value is probably trust. Having trust one of the biggest things that you can have just throughout your career. Building trust with employees, building trust with management, and building trust with customers is essential. With trust is also integrity, making sure you're doing the right thing. The last one would probably be accountability, taking responsibility for your actions and results, both positive and negative.
