About Shirley
Shirley Rubin is a health and fitness professional with more than 25 years of experience. She began following in her mother's footsteps as a fitness instructor and later worked at a women's gym for over 10 years, where she focused on inspiring women to get strong, healthy, and comfortable in their own skin. Over time, she has immersed herself in issues related to menopause and studied nutrition. She is currently earning a master's degree in clinical psychology, with plans to specialize in helping women with eating disorders, recognizing that mental health plays a key role alongside physical training and diet. In 2016, she competed in a muscle fitness contest after maintaining a vegan diet for six months and earned two trophies, proving it is possible to build muscle without meat or eggs.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Enrich yourself in different ages of women. Usually when girls at a younger age start they think a certain way, a narrow-minded approach to fitness, but you also got to consider different age groups. Depending where your focus is going to be, that's where you should get your specialty in and get educated about that. Whether it's athletes, young athletes, or women pre, during, post-menopause, or fitness contest like muscle development, it kind of depends what the goal is.
