About Shivani
Shivani Nagapurkar is a public health professional and epidemiologist with a strong foundation in microbiology and population health. She began her academic journey in India, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology before pursuing a Master’s in Public Health, where she developed a growing interest in epidemiology and disease prevention. The COVID-19 pandemic further strengthened her commitment to the field, inspiring her through the critical role epidemiologists played in guiding public health response, communicating risk, and controlling outbreaks. She moved to the United States to advance her training and completed her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at Texas A&M University in 2021. During her time there, she worked closely with faculty on research projects, gaining hands-on experience in epidemiologic methods, data analysis, and public health research. This academic foundation helped shape her focus on infectious disease surveillance and evidence-based decision-making. Shivani went on to serve as a Viral Hepatitis Epidemiologist with the Delaware Division of Public Health, where she contributed to surveillance activities and epidemiologic investigations for approximately 1.5 years. In January 2025, she joined Marshfield Clinic Research Institute, where she currently works as a Research Epidemiologist and Project Manager. In this role, she monitors infectious disease trends, oversees study coordinators, manages research projects, and supports data quality and analysis efforts that inform public health action and improve population health outcomes.
