Her Story
About Shivi
I've been in my field for 11 years, working in the sales and marketing division of an IT company. My work focuses on understanding product offerings and proving their value to medium and small businesses. I specialize in the farming aspect of the business, where I maintain already-established relationships and ensure we continuously get business from clients while aligning everything we deliver with the advertiser's business objectives. I started this journey through a campus placement after completing my Master's in Business Administration, as I had always been interested in digital marketing. What I'm most proud of is being able to make a quantifiable and reasonable difference in my clients' businesses by using the products my company offers. Even though I'm selling a software solution, seeing the real-life impact I'm able to create is what I consider the biggest achievement of my entire career. My career has evolved alongside the AI industry itself, starting in a very nascent field and growing with it, which has given me a unique perspective across the entire product lifecycle from development to management to sales.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If it were the young me that I had to advise, I would say that nothing is impossible. I did not start off thinking that this is how my career would go out to be, especially in an industry which was evolving as I am evolving. This is a very nascent field of AI, and I think even today, 60% of people don't understand what AI is, they just know the word AI. Starting my career in AI, seeing it evolve, and evolving with it is something that I feel every new person who is starting should be comfortable with. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, should be agile, and should be taking the world as it comes, because there's a lot changing now. If you want to go on a set path, maybe that is something for you, but if you want to explore something new and be surprised at the same time and love it, I feel that the only mindset needed is be agile and be flexible.
