Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shonna

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being a relationship builder who embraces opportunities with courage, grit, and grace. Throughout my career, I have been willing to step outside my comfort zone, remain curious, and invest in meaningful relationships. My passion for helping people and my commitment to continuous growth have allowed me to make a positive impact wherever I serve.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

"You can do all things, but you can't be all things"

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to ask questions, stay curious, and never be afraid to seek knowledge. Think creatively, use the resources available to you, and be willing to take calculated risks. Don't allow a job description to discourage you if you don't meet every qualification on paper. Believe in your abilities, continue learning, and confidently pursue opportunities that align with your goals.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the greatest challenges is increasing representation of women in senior leadership while supporting individuals returning to the workforce after major life events such as parenthood. Managing the complexities of multi-state employment laws also requires organizations to remain adaptable. At the same time, these challenges present opportunities to improve employee experiences, advocate for meaningful workplace policies, and build cultures where people can thrive.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe in aligning my actions with my values in every aspect of life. Integrity, meaningful relationships, curiosity, innovation, and compassion guide how I lead and serve others. I strive to approach every opportunity with grit and grace while supporting people holistically and creating environments where individuals and organizations can succeed together.
