Her Interview
Ten minutes with Shonna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance and a refusal to give up. I've always believed there's no reason to settle for a good life when you can strive for an amazing one. That mindset motivates me to keep growing, create opportunities for myself and others, and make a positive impact. My goal is to leave a meaningful legacy by helping people improve their lives and reach their full potential.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received came from my mom, who has always been my biggest cheerleader. She would remind me to give myself more credit because not everyone can do what I do. She also encouraged me to always be the best version of myself, and that advice has stayed with me throughout my career.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to make sure you're doing it for the right reasons. Have a genuine passion for helping people, because that purpose will sustain you through the challenges. When you're committed to making a positive impact, success will naturally follow.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is finding the time to do it all while still making time for myself. It's easy to become so focused on helping others that your own well-being takes a back seat. I've learned that taking care of myself—especially by being mindful of what I eat and what I put into my body—allows me to stay energized, focused, and better equipped to serve others.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me in both my work and personal life are maintaining a positive attitude, believing in myself, and never giving up. I also value the people who are closest to me, surround myself with positive and supportive individuals, and believe that having the right mindset and strong relationships helps you keep moving forward, no matter what challenges you face.
