Her Story

About Shrea

Shrea Ty graduated from Yale University two years ago with a major in neuroscience. During her time at Yale, she engaged in extensive public health work, including participation in the Road to IR program, which took her to hospitals in East African countries such as Tanzania and Uganda for approximately two years. Her efforts there centered on medical equipment access and improving cultural competency in healthcare. Most recently, she served as a Fulbright Nehru scholar in Delhi, where she worked in the gastroenterology department of India's largest national hospital. There, she developed projects including a multilingual chatbot for rural patients and a health policy model addressing biologic treatment reimbursement. Shrea is the co-founder of the IBD India initiative, which supports the South Asian diaspora in managing chronic illnesses, and she has volunteered with the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. She is currently applying to medical school with aspirations to become a physician who translates clinical insights into health policy and initiatives for underserved populations.
