Shreya Chakraborty is a computer science student and researcher at Georgia Tech finishing her undergrad and pursuing a master's. She has four years of experience in software engineering and machine learning research. Her industry experience includes internships at Motorola as a data science intern, Amazon AWS on the health AI team where she built a chatbot to summarize patient charts, HP as a computer science intern, and Google as a software engineer intern, with plans to return full-time. On campus, she serves as an undergrad researcher in Georgia Tech's Contextual Computing Group and leads the India Club as president, managing large-scale cultural events and over $120,000 in funds after previously serving as vice president of finance. She gave a TEDx talk and draws on her Taekwondo background for discipline. Her work spans software engineering, machine learning, AI, and organizational leadership.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be experimental. If there's something you're interested in, try to make something to solve it or help with your hobbies. Curiosity is what really takes you far.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is that with AI, you don't need to know how to code anymore, leveling the playing field. Instead focus on soft skills like problem solving, designing systems, leading people, and communicating in technical settings rather than low-level coding semantics.
