Ten minutes with Shruti

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a consistent focus on strategic clarity, customer-centered decision making, and operational excellence. Across 12 years in product and program leadership, I’ve learned that influence is earned by driving measurable outcomes, aligning cross-functional teams around a bold vision, and leading with integrity through complexity. Sustained curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to elevate others have been foundational to my career impact.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

“Don’t wait to be ready — grow into the role by doing the work.” That taught me to lean into stretch opportunities, take ownership of outcomes, and lead with confidence even when the path is not fully defined. It shifted my focus from perfection to impact.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Speak up and Lead! Be bold in voicing your perspective, your voice is a strategic asset. Invest in mastering the fundamentals, seek roles that offer end-to-end ownership, and build strong cross-functional relationships that broaden your influence. Ask thoughtful questions, drive outcomes with clarity and conviction, and trust your instincts even in moments of ambiguity. Advocate for your worth, learn from setbacks, and cultivate mentors and sponsors who support your growth. Your distinct perspective and leadership will be critical in shaping the future of this industry.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I believe the greatest opportunity in product and voice AI lies in the shift from reactive command systems to ambient intelligence that anticipates and responds to human needs naturally. Leaders across the Alexa organization view this as a defining platform shift that will shape the next decade of computing.

Through my work leading beta-tester insights, I consistently see how customer expectations are evolving alongside this vision. Testers increasingly look for experiences that feel intuitive, contextual, and seamlessly integrated into daily life.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I anchor my work and life on integrity, empathy, and purposeful impact. Integrity guides how I make decisions; empathy fuels how I lead and build teams; and impact drives how I define success ensuring what I do creates value for users, organizations, and communities. Curiosity keeps me learning and evolving, while accountability ensures I own outcomes and stand by my commitments.
