Her Interview
Ten minutes with Shruti
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to curiosity, resilience, and a genuine passion for creating impact. I've always been willing to step into unchartered territory, solve complex problems, learn quickly, and bring people together to achieve a common goal. By staying customer-focused, embracing continuous improvement, and leading with empathy, I've been able to drive meaningful business outcomes while helping teams grow and succeed.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be confident in your voice and don't wait until you feel 100% ready to pursue opportunities.
Early in my career, I learned that I am not to have every answer, and every skill perfectly mastered before speaking up confidently or doubt myself for the new challenge. In reality, growth often happens when you step outside your comfort zone and learn along the way. This advice shifted my mindset and made me more confident and make me value the unique perspective. I became willing to speak up, ask questions, and contribute ideas, even when I was the only woman in the room. My confidence grew with every challenge you take on.
Careers are marathons, not sprints. Focus on continuous learning, embrace challenges as opportunities, and prioritize impact over perfection. The combination of resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to growth will take you further than any single role or title.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
"Focus on creating impact, not just completing tasks."
Early in your career, it is easy to get sucked into tasks and not know the impact to the customer. Career growth doesn't come from being busy, it comes from solving meaningful business problems and delivering measurable outcomes. Its very important to not simply execute but to understand the broader business objectives, influencing stakeholders, and driving results that matter.
For a product leader, it is most important to think strategically, connect technology investments to business value, and prioritize initiatives that create lasting impact for customers, teams, and the organization. It is also important of building relationships, developing people, and looking beyond immediate deliverables to long-term outcomes. Lastly, be consistent in focusing on impact, growth, recognition, and new opportunities tend to follow naturally.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is managing increasing complexity across the supply chain. Retailers are balancing inflation, changing consumer demand, global sourcing risks, labor shortages, and rising customer expectations for speed and convenience. Maintaining accurate inventory across stores, distribution centers, and digital channels has become both more difficult and more critical than ever.
At the same time, I believe the greatest opportunity lies in leveraging technology, data, and AI to create smarter retail operations. Retailers now have the ability to make more informed decisions around forecasting, replenishment, product data management, and personalization than ever before. Organizations that can turn high-quality data into actionable insights will be better positioned to improve customer experiences, reduce costs, and drive profitable growth.
Another major opportunity is the convergence of physical and digital commerce. Customers no longer think in channels; they simply expect a seamless shopping experience. Retailers that successfully connect inventory visibility, fulfillment capabilities, and customer engagement across all touchpoints will create a significant competitive advantage.
Ultimately, the retailers that invest in inventory accuracy, data governance, AI-enabled decision-making, and customer-centric experiences will be best positioned to thrive in the years ahead.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are integrity, accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration. I believe in doing the right thing, taking ownership of outcomes, staying curious and adaptable, and working with others to achieve meaningful results. These values shape how I lead, make decisions, and build relationships both professionally and personally.
