Her Story
About Shruti
I have been in data analytics for 20 years, starting as a developer and then moving up in the same industry up to senior management level. Now I've founded my own company to help other data analytics companies with AI. I got into consulting by accident when I was a graduate and was taken in by a consulting company. At that time I didn't even know what it was. But once I was in consulting and data analytics, I just loved the analytics part of it. I myself am very critical and analytical, so that's where I found my passion in solving problems using data, and that's what has kept me in the industry for the last 20 years. Currently, I'm doing more of AI implementation and growth consultancy. As a founder, I'm doing everything from sales and marketing to reaching out to prospects to strategizing the delivery for them. Meanwhile, I'm also expanding my own team and looking for developers to get ready for my deliverables.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Shruti
01What do you attribute your success to?
I've been very open to opportunities that came across my face. I have experimented with the type of jobs I've worked with and different kinds of people I've worked with, so I was very open when opportunities came, and that actually has scaled my growth and helped me get a very wide, widespread knowledge in my own field. I stick to my own domain, like data analytics, so that helped me get deeper insights into the industry and the market over the last 20 years.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
People told me to believe in myself when I am talking to customers. I don't have to oversell or undersell myself, just be true and go with the passion of helping people, and that generally works magic.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say be hardworking and open to change. Since I come from technology, no technology remains the same over a few years. Earlier it used to be decades, but now it's changing in a few years. So always be open to change and open to learning. Learn new things and expand your knowledge. Never say that you know a lot. Everybody has scope of learning, I think, until we die. So just work with open-mindedness, expand your knowledge, and you will reach heights.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One is that the technology keeps changing these days, every couple of years now, so you have to be up with the technology. Secondly, I would say with all the new AI revolution, a lot of jobs and industry working would change. So again, adapting to those changes and the roles which come along with it would be a challenge. In general, I think with AI and more internet being widespread, especially in data analytics, we are collecting a lot of data. When I started, we used to work with a limited amount of data, but now there is innumerable data everywhere. So just the vastness of it, you would need a lot of widespread industry knowledge to understand how to make this data useful. That's where open-mindedness, as I said, is very important, because you will have to look into data analytics from various perspectives in coming days. So that will make it a real big challenge for companies to utilize it well.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I do believe in honesty, and that's what I always try to be with people and expect the same from others. I think any big difficulty, if you are honest, you would overcome them.
